Dr. Mastroyannis is a Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology, Fertility and IVF (REFI) at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Care Sciences, where he has been on the faculty since 1992. Dr. Mastroyannis did his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center and Down State Medical Center. In 1984, he joined the faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 1986. Since 1986, he has held various academic positions and in 1989 established the Northern Virginia Center for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility. He has received numerous awards for his research in the ongoing evolving field of Infertility, including first prize in the American Fertility Society in Toronto, Canada and the Award for Excellence at the National Research Council. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and by the Board's Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He has published numerous articles and scientific publications. His research experience includes the Handling and Culture of Oocytes, Corpus Luteum Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), the Freezing of Mammalian Oocytes, Oocytes Maturation in vitro, the Effects of Progesterone on Ovulation, and the Development, Growth and Secretion of the Corpus Luteum.

Dr. Mastroyannis' clinical interests include Infertility, IVF, Endometriosis,
Menopause, Laser Surgery and Congenital Anomalies. He is also actively
participating in the education and training of medical students and residents of
George Washington University School of Medicine at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Dr. Mastroyannis is a member of many prominent medical organizations, including the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, American Medical Association (AMA), American Society of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and the Medical Society of the District of Columbia. He has been a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1988. Dr. Mastroyannis is fluent in English, Greek and German. The Center accepts and offers services to patients with Infertility, Reproductive Endocrinology, and routine or complex gynecological problems. As a member of the Washington IVF, we are able to offer our patients successes, which are among the top in the tri-state area due to cutting edge medical technology and expertise. |

Excellence in service through individual patient attention, an inviting office atmosphere and responsiveness to our patients' particular needs is the guiding principle of the Center's work environment. As a result, 60% of our patients originate from patient referrals, 30% from physician referrals, and 10% are self-referred. We welcome new patients and make every effort to accommodate them within a two-week period.
Services:
Gynecology: We offer a full range of
gynecological services for women both in their reproductive years and during and
after menopause. These services include: Annual exams and thin-prep Pap
Smears, Laser Surgery, Gynecological Surgery including Hysterectomy [Abdominal,
Vaginal and Laparoscopically assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH)], diagnosis and
treatments of Endometriosis (Medical and Surgical), Sonograms in the office for
diagnosis and follow up of Pelvic Pathology, Treatment for Menstrual
Irregularities (Vaginal Bleeding) including Medical and Endometrial Ablation,
Diagnosis of Breast Masses, Medical and Surgical treatments for Fibroids,
Urinary Incontinence, Medical and Surgical treatments for Ectopic Pregnancy and
Menopause with Hormonal Replacement Therapy.
